About Solomon Islands

Solomon Islands is an archipelagic nation in Melanesia, northeast of Australia, consisting of six major islands and more than 1,000 smaller islands, covering about 28,896 square kilometres with an estimated 2025 population of 828,857.

It lies west of Bougainville, southeast of New Caledonia and Vanuatu, east of Fiji, Tuvalu, and Wallis and Futuna, and south of Federated States of Micronesia and Nauru.

The capital and largest city, Honiara, is located on Guadalcanal. The country is named after the wider Solomon Islands archipelago, which also includes Bougainville but excludes the Santa Cruz Islands.

Solomon Islands has two main seasons: a hot, humid wet season from November to April (Surf Season) and a slightly cooler, drier season from May to October.

Solomon IsLANDS Surf

The Solomon Islands provide a truly adventurous surfing experience because most surf spots are remote, outer reefs, and accessible only by boat, often near small villages/island rather than tourist resorts.

Unlike other surf destinations, the Solomons have minimal infrastructure, meaning there are few crowds.

This makes the experience more immersive; surfers interact with local communities and explore pristine tropical islands.

The waves can range from gentle reef breaks suitable for intermediates to powerful, challenging breaks for advanced surfers, offering variety and adventure in a largely untouched environment.

Essentially, surfing in the Solomon Islands is about exploration, adventure and discovery.
